Introduction
The Federal Government has provided new funding in the 2007 budget for the Renewable Remote Power
Generation Program (RRPGP) in South Australia
The program is funded
by the Commonwealth to to help reduce the use of diesel for power generation.
The key objectives are to:
- Help to provide an effective electricity supply
to remote users;
- Help meet the energy infrastructure needs of indigenous
communities;
- Assist in the development of the Australian renewable
energy industry; and
- Lead to long term greenhouse gas reductions.
Amount
of Rebate
The rebate covers 50% of the costs associated
with supply and installation of a renewable energy generation system. The rebate is capped at $200,000 unless classed as a major project.
