A. New Federal Government Rebate of $1,000 for replacement of an electric storage hot water system with a solar system.

It is available for a principal place of residence

Applicant's taxable family income is less than $100,000.

For rental properties, either the tenant or the owner may apply.

If you are eligible, Solaris may provide the rebate at point of sale, reducing your purchase cost.

B. A South Australian government rebate of $700 is available for installation of a solar hot water system. This covers replacement of an electric hot water system with a solar unit, or a gas unit with a solar-gas unit.

New houses are eligible for the rebate on a solar-electric unit only if there is no gas available.

A rebate for replacing a gas hot water system with a solar unit is only available if the solar unit has gas back-up.

If you are eligible, Solaris may provide the rebate at point of sale, reducing your purchase cost.

C. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

These can be created when any renewable energy equipment is installed, under the Federal Govt's Manadatory Renewable Energy Target.

RECs are market-based and hence the price varies over time. The number of RECs created is determined by the model and the location.

For example, at time of writing, the rebate was worth $1,155 on a BP Solar-Dux Solar electric hot water system. Solaris will assist you in claiming this rebate.
